The Cheeky Backheel Podcast, Episode 16

Episode 16: The Time Sounders FC Marc Burch Had A Beer With UsThe past couple of days we had been cryptically (at least that was our feeble attempt) to hype that the 16th episode was going to be a special one (copyright, Jose Mourinho). No we weren’t having some sort of super sweet 16 party, though behind the scenes Ryan has been wanting a pony. That withstanding, the reason Episode 16 is special is because we have a very special guest in the form of Seattle Sounders FC defender Marc Burch. He was kind enough to join us and drop his two cents on the topics we talked about, which include a recap of the MLS Cup Final and season in general. As usual we recapped the action from Europe where the Cheeky Backheel Division got a bit crowded with Swansea City flying high after their victory at the Emirates. And yes, Rick is still in his “I Hate Football” period. We then dropped odds on Jose Mourinho becoming Fergie’s successor, Johan Cruyff bringing his sunny personality to the MLS, and Landon Donovan retiring. Then to close out the episode Marc did a Q&A with us where he talks about his impressions of Seattle and the club now that he has a year under his belt, the journey to becoming a professional in the MLS, the toughest players he’s had to defend, winning intra-squad dodgeball matches, off-season plans, and why Sounders FC Midfielder Brad Evans doesn’t know lick about chili. Marc also candidly talks about the unfortunate incident in the second leg of the Real Salt Lake playoff match and his committed effort to correcting that. It’s our longest episode to date, but with good reason as it was a blast having him on. To which we say, thank you Marc.

And yes, the picture isn’t the best in the world. But that’s not the point, just listen to the episode.
